News Flash *
Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International
Airport has passed Chicago's O'Hare to become
the world's busiest airport, says the FAA. For
years, Atlanta led O'Hare in the number of
departing passengers, but O'Hare had more flight
operations. Last year, Atlanta had 980,197
takeoffs and landings with an estimated 88.4
million passengers. Chicago remains superior
with its 76% on-time performance record compared
to 72% for Atlanta.
* Northwest Airlines
announced it will charge an extra $15 for
confirmed emergency exit row and some select
aisle seats in a test program. Passengers can
confirm these preferred seats up to 24 hours in
advance (36 hours for Elite Program members) for
routes within the U.S. Northwest had already
eliminated free snacks and meals on all of its
domestic flights. It is reported that the
preferred seat assignment fees could generate up
to $20 million.
* Preparations are in
full swing for theater events, concerts,
exhibitions and parties before, during and after
the World Soccer Cup from June 9th to July 9th
this year. Germany expects over one million
additional visitors in the 12 host cities as
well as towns with public viewing areas. Visit

Falling
in Love With Old Cape Cod by
Henry Scammell
For almost 400 years, Cape
Cod has been a world-class getaway destination.
The richly historic, scenic peninsula that
extends 40 miles from the Massachusetts mainland
out into the Atlantic, then another 40 miles
north to form the bottom boundary of the Gulf of
Maine, is one of those rare places that seems to
offer something for everyone: serenity for the
spiritual pilgrim, sanctuary for the fugitive
from the Here and Now, an intense dose of raw
nature for the over-civilized, spectacular
recreation for the under-exercised, and every
kind of activity for the serious pleasure
seeker.

Personal
Security while Traveling Traveling
in the U.S. for pleasure or business can be both
exciting and intimidating. There are several
things to keep in mind when planning an
enjoyable, safe, and productive trip. One
important consideration should be your personal
security.
While there is a reasonable
expectation that an airline, an airport, or a
hotel will provide some measure of security for
the traveler, the person most concerned for your
well-being and safety needs to be you. The more
you learn about security and protecting
yourself, companions, and belongings, the more
likely you are to avoid any threat to your
safety.
Every
time you use your member benefits, you not only
benefit personally, you help support WTA’s
mission to make travel safer, more affordable,
and hassle-free. Wherever in the world you’re
planning to travel, WTA is here to
help!
Thank you and safe
travels!
